STAR Consulting & Associates, LCC, and STAR Consulting for the Workplace utilize the STAR technique:

SIMULATE, TARGETED INTENT, ACHIEVEMENT, RESOLVE

Designed by practice leader, Ms. Janice A. Gnas, this technique is the foundation for all the company’s services. Life transitions, an ongoing process, with help and support can become an adventure.

The practice leader, Ms. Gnas, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Board Certified Coach (BCC). She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology (M.S.) with an emphasis in professional counseling, education and training in the community. In addition to her clinical training Ms. Gnas has completed extensive training and certification as a Life Coach.

With many years of experience in the area of learning representation styles, Ms. Gnas and client are able to collaboratively determine how to identify how they process information, and their ability to adapt to change. Cognitive behavioral therapy based upon Positive Psychology- this approach emphasizes the important role of thinking, and determines how an individual feels and what they do

Solution focused therapy - a specific type of brief therapy, this approach focuses on how individuals envision their future, rather than focusing on their current problems.

Ms. Gnas guides individuals to assess their strengths and weakness, in the moment, to allow them to move forward.

Ms. Gnas completed National training with The Daring Way™ in September 2014

The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The Daring Way™ is facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings (offered through workshops, Group Series, Couples, and Individual sessions).

Licenses and Credentials

LPC - (Licensed Professional Counselor) Specialist who provides professional counseling services involving psychotherapy, human development, learning theory, and group dynamics to individuals, couples, and families.

NCC - (National Certified Counselor) Established by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. (NBCC), this voluntary certification is not required for supervised or independent practice. The NCC credential identifies counselors who have voluntarily sought and met standards that exceed basic licensure requirements. It is not, however, a substitute for state-mandated licensure. Many states use the NCC examination as part of their licensing requirements, which may provide license portability for counselors who wish to practice in more than one state.

BCC - (Board Certified Coach) The Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE) created the Board Certified Coach (BCC) credential as a means to independently verify that applicants have met professional coaching competency standards established by CCE and subject matter experts. These standards reflect the common knowledge, skills and abilities of a professional coach.

CSAC - (Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor) Provides assessment and referral to counseling for individuals and families affected by addictions and chemical dependency

CDWF -(Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator) “To ensure the quality and consistency of our work and to maintain the fidelity of our research, only Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator – Candidates (CDWF – Candidates) and Facilitators (CDWF) are authorized to facilitate The Daring Way™
